Now that you have an idea what you should be considering always consult a licensed competent professional. Make sure to consult with multiple licensed competent professionals. Stop and consider any life insurance you may already have in place too. Life policies through work or a group you may belong to. A veteran has entitlements as well. Don’t forget other assets you have: savings, investments, real estate and personal property. Which assets would your family sell or cash in to pay expenses after your death? Which ones should be sold now?

Generally speaking, if all a person wants is cheap coverage for a given period of time, term insurance is the ticket. On the other hand, if a person wants to have insurance in place that doesn’t expire, permanent insurance is the ticket. You will pay a little more but in the long run you won’t have to shop for insurance.

Both types of policies fill specific needs. Hence, depending on your situation term may be the right policy. But, for you at that point in time, permanent insurance is the right policy.
