Why Do I Need To Buy Life Insurance?
Life Insurance Is Family Insurance. Too many people don’t think of life insurance in its proper perspective. It is really family insurance. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide for the children and life insurance is the vehicle that gives them the best chance to have tax free dollars with which to start their life’s journey. It does not matter who you are or what you do for a living, unless you are a multi-millionaire, you should make sure that you have some sort of life insurance policy. And, if you are the only source of income for your family, it is doubly important you have life insurance. Should you die prematurely, your family will lose your income. Death is not the time to be thinking of how to replace that source of income. You should have a source of money so the family can pay final expenses, continue to live and move forward with a plan for life without you. There are two types of life insurance people can purchase. These two types are term life insurance and permanent life insurance. Each has its place on the family needs fulfillment ladder. Permanent life insurance generally costs more than term life insurance but it stays in force for a longer period of time. This means, if you don’t stop paying the premium, your beneficiary will have a sum of money available at your death. Term life insurance is usually cheaper than permanent life insurance. This is because the term is shorter than permanent insurance. Term satisfies the social responsibility just like permanent life insurance but it does it over a far shorter period of time. The life of a term policy depends on how long you think you will need it. For example, if you believe a 20 year term policy provides adequate coverage you can buy a 20 year term. At the end of the 20 year term, your insurance expires and you are relieved from having to pay any more premiums. But, you also don’t have any more insurance coverage. Generally speaking, if all a person wants is cheap coverage for a given period of time, term insurance is the ticket. On the other hand, if a person wants to have insurance in place that doesn’t expire, permanent insurance is the ticket. You will pay a little more but in the long run you won’t have to shop for insurance. Both types of policies fill specific needs. Hence, depending on your situation term may be the right policy. But, for you at that point in time, permanent insurance is the right policy. Look at both types, assess your personal needs and buy the policy that satisfies your particular situation.
