Before You Buy Life Insurance
We put together a brief list of things you should consider when buying. We’d like to suggest a book made by The National Association of Insurance Commissioners or the NAIC as it is known.
They produce a book called “Life Insurance Buyers Guide”, it has very helpful information. This association also helps the various insurance departments to coordinate insurance laws for the benefit of all consumers. With that in mind here are a few tips for buying life insurance.
- Get an idea of what your insurance circumstances and needs are. Choose one or two types of policy, ones that appear to closely fit your needs. You can even ask an agent or company to help you.
- Don’t buy life insurance unless you intend to stick with your plan. Be sure that you can handle the premium payments. It may be very costly if you quit during the early years of the policy.
- Do not sign any insurance application until you have reviewed it carefully and made sure all the answers are true, complete and correct.
- Don’t drop one policy for another without being absolutely sure that replacement is in your best interests. Replacing your insurance may be costly.
- Read your policy carefully. Make sure you ask every question you want until you are satisfied. Make sure your agent or a representative of the company explains anything that is not clear to you.
- Make sure your agent or company reviews your life insurance with you every few years. This will serve to keep up with changes in your income and needs.
Remember that’s just a few things to keep in mind before you buy life insurance. The more you know the better your decision will be.
